More magnet.
Less complexity.
The Innovar Ditch Magnet combines high-performance permanent magnets with a simple stainless steel body. It is quick to put in the ditch, holds a lot of ferrous debris and takes around 20 seconds to clean.
More capacity, not more equipment.
Drilling produces ferrous debris all the time, from casing wear, milling and drill string contact. If it stays in circulation it wears pumps, screens and downhole tools. It is also useful information: what ends up on the ditch magnet is often the first sign of what is going on downhole.
Ditch magnets are the simplest place to catch it, and we hear the same request from operators: more magnetic capacity in the ditch. Nobody asks for more equipment to install, maintain and clean on a shaker deck that is already busy.
We put the engineering where it matters.
A ditch magnet is not complicated equipment. What decides how well it works is the magnetic system inside it. Magnetic recovery tools are what we do at Innovar, so instead of adding mechanical features to the hardware we spent the design effort on the magnets: high-performance permanent magnet elements, chosen for holding capability and arranged for high magnetic density along the full working length.
The magnets sit in a robust stainless steel body made for the shaker deck. There are no moving parts and nothing to adjust. Everything on it is there to catch metal.
High magnetic performance
Premium permanent magnet elements in a continuous flat array give strong ferrous debris capture along the full length of the body.
~20-second cleaning
With the open body, the debris comes off with a standard shovel in around 20 seconds. Less handling and less time spent on the shaker deck.
Simple and robust
Stainless steel body with an integral handle and free-standing legs. No moving parts and nothing to adjust. Built for daily handling in the field.
Flexible deployment
Supplied as a single unit or as a set of six. Free-standing, anchored with a chain, and light enough for one person to carry. No fixed frame or lifting equipment needed.
Sleeved or open
Run it with the fabric sleeve to keep the debris contained for removal and inspection, or open for the fastest cleaning. The magnet is the same either way.
Compact, portable single-element ditch magnet for the mud trough in the shaker room. Chain anchoring makes it quick and safe to deploy and retrieve, with no heavy lifting and no fixed frame to install.
Place it and secure the chain.
Stand the unit in the ditch on its own legs and secure the chain. No frame, no tools, no lifting equipment. Six units give capacity along the whole ditch.
The metal stays on the magnet.
Ferrous debris is held along the full working length of the body. What comes out gives the rig team a direct look at what is circulating in the system.
Clean it and put it back.
Open body: scrape it clean with a standard shovel, around 20 seconds. Sleeved: lift the sleeve off with the debris on it, then refit it or fit a new one. The magnet goes straight back in.

Around 4 kg of swarf held per Ditch Magnet, measured in field testing.
Data as per Innovar TDS09201.
Single · open body
One Ditch Magnet with chain anchoring. Cleaned with a shovel in around 20 seconds.
Single · sleeved
One Ditch Magnet with the fabric debris collection sleeve fitted.
Six-unit system · open
Six Ditch Magnets, crated, for capacity along the whole ditch.
Six-unit system · sleeved
Six Ditch Magnets, crated, with sleeves fitted.
Spare sleeve
Exchangeable fabric debris collection sleeve, supplied separately.
The Innovar Ditch Magnet is intentionally simple. When the magnets are right, it does not need to be anything else.
