On February 19th a client was running a 9 5/8″ WBCU assembly, while pulling stands the floor hand suddenly noticed that the slip dies from a 5 1/2″ Rotary Slip were falling out. This resulted in that 10 slip dies fell on the rig floor, 1 on the bell nipple and, 7 fell in the well
The immediate corrective action taken was to POOH the cleanout BHA and inspect the junk basket and string magnets. 4 of the 7 slip dies that were lost in the well were retrieved by the WBCU tools, while 3 slip dies remained in the well.
Comments made about the Innovar Magnum Fishing Magnet when it arrived on location:
“The Toolpusher had a slip dies in his hand and was going to stick it onto the magnet, when he was around a foot away he opened his hand and the magnet pulled the dies straight from him. The Toolpusher then conducted a second test where he attached a hammer wrench to the magnet and 2 men had problems attempting to pull it from the Innovar magnet. Very impressive”.
After testing the strength of the magnet, the rig made up the Innovar magnet and ran it down into the BOP and back to surface. From the 1st run, the magnet retrieved 1 1/2 slip dies from the BOP ram block cavities.
A second run was made to the bottom and the magnet retrieved the remaining 1 1/2 slip dies from the well.

With the quick mobilization of the Innovar 5,75-in OD Magnum Fishing Magnet, model FMP 58, the slip dies were effectively fished out on the 1st and 2nd run. No steel debris was left in the hole and the operation could resume.
